The story of Frostwynd

"Long ago, the Shadow Crown corrupted the noble dragon Scorathax, plunging the realm of Frostwynd into eternal twilight. From his mountain lair, the beast spreads corruption across the land."
What is the Shadow Crown?
The Shadow Crown is the source of all evil in the realm of Frostwynd. Long ago it corrupted the noble dragon Scorathax, who still wears it in his mountain lair, and its darkness has spread across the land ever since.
The dragon sleeps on mountains of gold with the Crown upon him, and every hero who has gone after it has ended up among his bones.
Is the Shadow Crown cursed?
In all but name. The Crown turned a noble dragon into a tyrant and plunged Frostwynd into eternal twilight. The only way to end its power is to shatter it.
What is Frostwynd?
Frostwynd is the frozen realm where The Shadow Crown series is set: a medieval fantasy land of icy mountains, dark forests and ancient ruins, now held in eternal twilight by the Shadow Crown.
Most of the realm is still uncharted. The Shadow Crown: Frostwynd Chronicles covers one corner of it: the village of Eldergrove, the Dark Forest to the east, the Frostwynd Mountains to the west and the Ancient Ruins to the south. See them all on the map of Frostwynd.
What is the story of The Shadow Crown?
Darkness has fallen on Frostwynd. The dragon Scorathax, corrupted by the Shadow Crown, spreads corruption from his mountain lair, while his servant, the Necromancer Malachar, raises legions of undead in the catacombs beneath the Ancient Ruins. The Shadow Crown: Frostwynd Chronicles follows one warrior of Eldergrove who sets out to end it.
But darkness breeds resistance. In Eldergrove, brave souls gather. Merchants whisper of magical artefacts, a hermit in the mountains guards ancient secrets, the Sacred Grove still pulses with life, and even the forest spirits have not abandoned hope.

Who are you in The Shadow Crown?
You are a warrior of Eldergrove. Your task is to gather allies, master forgotten magic, forge legendary weapons and grow strong enough to face the necromancer, then the dragon, and shatter the Shadow Crown forever.
You will not do it alone. Meet the people of Eldergrove, and the creatures of the dark that stand in your way.
What is Eldergrove?
Eldergrove is the village where your journey begins, and the last bastion of light in Frostwynd. Its cobblestones have been worn by centuries, and it is home to the Prancing Pegasus Inn, the Merchant Quarter and a dwarf blacksmith.
At the western edge of the village, where farmland meets wilderness, a small stone shrine honours ancient heroes. The villagers still leave offerings at its base.
The forgotten kingdom
South of Eldergrove lie the Ancient Ruins, the remains of a kingdom no one remembers. Vines strangle marble columns, strange whispers echo from within, and a locked iron door leads down into darkness. Beside the ruins stands a collapsed library. What lies below the door is for you to find out.
The runes of Frostwynd
Frostwynd's oldest magic is written in runes. In the Sacred Grove, a stone altar covered in mystical runes holds the secret of the Fireball spell, and the air around it hums with ancient magic.
On this website the runes live on: the people and creatures of Frostwynd speak in their own scripts until you translate them, and the daily cipher sends a new message in runes every day, decoded with the wheel from the box.
Is Frostwynd Chronicles a prequel?
Yes. The Shadow Crown: Frostwynd Chronicles is the prequel and the first game in The Shadow Crown series. It explores Eldergrove and the lands around it; later chronicles will chart more of Frostwynd.
